Oversized flower buds to symbolize a new collection of environmental care
A meeting with Bolon at a 2008 Milan exhibition went down as swimmingly as the clink of overflowing champagne glasses. Pink champagne to be exact, where passion for their craft coupled with their boisterous brand persona, has forged a close working relationship built on a clear understanding and mutual appreciation for each other’s respective talents. 2010 will see their collaboration bear fruit in the form of oversized flower buds sprouting from Bolon’s recently developed Botanic collection.
To Bolon – run by the Eklund sisters (Annica and Marie), flooring is rock ‘n’ roll. The family run business has been producing woven vinyl products for more than sixty years – and even today, the factory, development department and design studio are all situated in the same place – In the middle of the deep forests in Ulricehamn, Västra Götaland, Sweden.
The new Botanic collection is a revolutionary breakthrough, weaving vinyl flooring with environmental care. Botanic contains a new plasticizer which, in turn, is based on renewable raw materials originating from modified vegetal oils. The new plasticizer is an important step in integrating Bolon’s environmental initiative: Bolon Green®.
FUWL has created the visual concept around Botanic, reflecting nature’s variety of organic architecture and wealth of detail. Nature photography and handicraft have inspired hand crafted flowers1, herbs and plants in woven vinyl. The colour scale is also taken from the vegetable kingdom with muted, rich tones in combination with bright accents. Botanic is Bolon’s “garden” with a natural brilliantly coloured product flora to discover and marvel at.
